A shortage of space for entertaining and a family's love of reading called for the addition of an open dining/library area.
We added a spacious dining room with see-through fireplace, art niches, and a kitchenette for easy clean up; all detailed to respect the family's love of Arts & Crafts architecture.
Tucked around the corner from the dining room is a cozy library retreat with wall-to-wall book shelves and a built-in side table and swing arm lamps for reading.
Yet, when the family is ready to watch a movie or view vacation slides, this quiet space can be instantly transformed into a home theater with the built-in, drop-down screen and discreet media projector. The family has so fallen in love with this space that they use it as much for their own time as for entertaining.
